@Patrick Rhone: Exactly. Re-read the article from Gruber and you'll discover just how well laid-out the Notes app is. Single hierarchy, one tap to edit, etc. Having a version of that specifically designed with lists in mind would be ideal.

And when I say 'lists', I don't necessarily mean 'todos'. From grocery lists to tasks to blog post ideas. I want the app to be as flexible as paper is (metaphorically, not literally).

@JohnRust Doesn't the Notes.app itself represent paper and it's simplicity?

What I could envision is something like the Notes.app in visual style but with the added features that Michael is looking for. If a developer made something like this I would buy it in a second.

I use the notes application for most things, and I don't particularly mind it.

While this idea you're presenting is a good one, I find it hard to visualize an app that presents "paper" with all of paper's simplicity on a 3"x5" screen.

I already enjoy the versatility Evernote has in syncing quick notes to both desktop and web while I type alway on the iPhone but another very practical feature to be added would be a checklist section.

@Chris You'd be surprised, but it's true.

@Judson Yeah, something like that is good, but I'd add the ability to highlight an item with a double-tap (like a streak of yellow from a highlighter).

Dude, there is no way you can type on that keyboard faster than you can write with a pen. You're in paper-denial!

I am looking for such a thing too. I saw a video review somewhere of such an app (Can't remember where or the name of the app. Very frustrating). But I can seem to find it on the App Store.

I will be watching this thread and please let me know if you find anything.
